I thought the SAVE Act was about required I.D. to vote?

There was a devil in those details. Roy wanted or negotiated in a REAL ID national database for mandatory national ID to vote, using REAL ID motor voter databases. That would create a global ID for Americans to vote. REAL ID couldn't stop noncitizens from flying for lack of proof of identity. As predicted, US citizens are the only ones forced to comply with something put in place to weed out unlawful aliens. It doesn't work at TSA and it won't work for bureaucrats who don't check the motor voter rolls now for the dead or the foreign national. I think they should get rid of motor voter enrollment altogether.

If Republicans or any voter efficacy group wants to stop fraud - they should just find ways to enforce the laws that exist on the books now. What's wrong with law enforcement? It's a 3rd degree felony to vote in our elections. Why isn't that enforceable? Shouldn't we go back and create accountability rules on that law instead of creating a new US citizen identity mandate?

Yes, enforce current federal and state laws. Demand voter identification showing proof of citizenship to vote. Motor voter databases are filled with illegals given false or temporary residence to obtain driver licenses (which should not be allowed IMO) and these databases need scrutiny to determine if aligns with voter registrations.

I don’t agree with every Republican doctrine. You must be a citizen to vote in our elections. That is the law. It has never been law until recently to mandate ID to vote. They need to reconcile the gaps with honest systems policy. Not pretend it’s your duty to prove to them you’re an American at every single transaction.
