MEDDLE EAST - When Palestine Is Not Hamas.
War involves civilian deaths & casualties. Peace is better.
The tragedy of all war is that normal people who live, love and worship in a place are attacked by the terrible aim of governments seeking to dominate. Some will yell “blood for blood”, when what they want is the land, the resources and power to punish all who live there. Call it whatever you like. All wars are the same in this manner.
Hamas is the target villain in this conflict abroad. They struck first and took hostages. All very bad things for Palestine; which is filled with synagogues, churches, children, schools, hospitals and businesses despite the blunt force aims of Hamas.
With all sanctimonious pearl clutching, grief and screaming to clog your ears, you will forget -momentarily- about all the non-Hamas persons in Gaza and the Israelis proximal to the Israeli-Palestine border.
The media loses all sense. It’s not even, “Get the terrorists”. It’s get them all.
Are they all Hamas? Really?! (You know they are not all Hamas.)
Upon closer inspection of this telenovela, a drama of intrigue where your emotions are manipulated by the writers, you begin to hear voices of protest within Israel, among the government who do not want this war.
The presumption of Knesset votes and solidarity that all of Israel is on board to send soldiers to die over a protracted Hamas raid turns out to simply be untrue. What is true is that debate over peace is shut down immediately. That is not what happens in a true democracy with representative government. These are the people who live there, pay taxes and who will go die in this war.
By extension, soap opera actors like Bernie Sanders are predictably totalitarian to use Vermont’s floor speech time to demand the US forbid American debate on the subject of whether or not to send our own citizens to die in Palestine. The United States is more than a war ATM and missile dispenser for Israel and Ukraine. Our young soldiers are on the line.
Let’s at least hear the debate. I want the opportunity hear the ‘Nays’ with 33 trillion in deficit and inflation here at home. Mistakes have been made in the Meddle East with US bodies.
They will want to debate that.
Manufacture peace. War is always insulted anyway.
