LETTER TO SENATOR CRUZ: What if Truth Social was labelled a foreign adversary?
Trump is being SLAPPed around with a ton of lawsuits and labelled a "Russian agent of the Kremlin" already by the foreign policy establishment.
Dear Senator Cruz and Policy Associates,
At this moment US arguments for Missouri v. Murthy are moving forward on whether or not foreign policy agencies like the GEC and the US State Department should have access to the US public to leverage censorship in publication from "foreign influence".
The GAO has already published report findings of compliance and conformance gaps pointing online propaganda at US citizens. There is already a bright line, even a 'firewall' of sorts, that USAGM, the State Department’s broadcast and online foreign propaganda arm, knows psychological operations directed from the State Department are landing on US citizens- and that it is prohibited from doing so. https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-22-104017
So, the SCOTUS is arbitrating a case today for agency access when US agencies have already issued recommendations to Congress to close a compliance gap to NOT allow State Department to reach for US citizens. The State Department has problems controlling their propaganda missions from imposing censorship and psychological operations onto US citizens online and on (US) broadcast media. They issued this report in 2021.
Matt Taibbi has also visited your office toward the problem of overreach in terms of censorship. We have to regard existing limits and government guardrails and at the very least notice when the government has breached their own rules! The State Department can be sued *today* for not minding policy recommendations and lack of compliance on technical gaps with regard to the Internet.
Unfortunately, this does apply to co-owned American companies, global social media companies (like TikTok). Agency technical compliance can be achieved with a set of rules that identify US domestic behaviors by developing an algorithm to emancipate a US user from State Department streams of propaganda (legally barred) and their foreign rules for the Internet.
The TikTok bill as written in the House would put a domestic social media platform like, Trump's Truth Social in the State Department's crosshairs if the President’s Men decide that Trump and anything he distributes as media on or owns as domain of a "foreign adversary". He's a US citizen and it is already prohibited, but this administration is a great big pretender. They pretend this is a grey area, when it is clear. There should be a firewall between the US State Departments foreign influence operations and US broadcast media and the US civil Internet.
Please add this GAO information and use it in your arsenal of Constitutional advocacy. It is time to end this charade.
Sincerely,
Sheila Dean
